Ages

Joe asks Fred - how old are your 3 children

Fred answers - add the ages and you get my house number,

Multiply them and you get 36.

Joe says that is not enough information so Fred adds that his (Joe’s) son is older than any of Fred’s children.

That is enough information to work out the children’s ages

 ( QR ) / ( S)  x   (T) = ( UV )

                   ( WX) +  (Y)  -   (U) = ( RV )                   _________________________

                    (TU) /  (Z)   /    (S) =    (R)

To make this work vertically and horizontally each letter needs to be replaced by one of the numbers 0 to 9.

The symbol ‘/’ means division.

As a start -- R=2.
